Yep, maybe God is up to something!

I mean he’s always up to “something” of course, but something in a more specific, relative, personal – kind of way.

Do you ever just long for closeness and peace. Quality. Richness? Richness in the sense of fullness, completeness – not monetarily speaking. I think sometimes we can get caught up in that chase but it’s really a dead end road.

Crying out to God for His direction in my life has been this past years theme. Feeling like I’m nearing the end of a chapter and ready to begin a new one, but I haven’t gotten the details yet.

Waiting…a lot of waiting along with intermittant frustration. I don’t know if it’s the waiting that is the hardest or more so the fear of waiting and seeking only to not find anything of what you really needed on the other end. I think that is the hardest. Hoping that your waiting on God won’t in fact be in vain. Hanging onto the hope that ideed, he is truly up to something, up to something so much bigger than I could conceive. Praying that it will come into existance….and soon! Praying that he in fact is the one stirring these desires in my heart. Trying to learn what it means to Delight in Him.

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Longing for change, for peace, for fullness, a completeness.

While this year has been about seeking his direction and learning to wait on HIm to lead me, it has also been about me letting go. Letting go of things and people that don’t have value or belong in my life.

Sometimes there are such things that can be blocking your vision of what God truly wants for you. It’s kind of hard to focus when you have so much crud invading that space in your life. It’s not that they are bad in of themselves, but it’s just not the right thing for you at the time. So it’s just not right period.

Sometimes, you just have to detach, de-clutter and delight. Delight in Him.

There are so many distractions and things pulling us in a million different directions. They can leave us empty and depleted of energy and suck the life right out from us at times can’t they?…

I don’t know about you, but I could sure use a heaping dose of D-E-L-I-G-H-T!!!

Lord, help me to understand fully what it means to delight in you.  Remind me of your goodness that washes over me.

Well, it’s pretty crazy but hubby and I found out we are expecting. So, that office slash exercise room has officially begun pre-transformation into a nursery for the bebe.

I have some thoughts on color schemes for a boy or a girl. Been looking around for bedding to see what’s out there. So far, nothing has caught my eye. So far most just seems so, well, baby-ish. Nothing chic, mod, posh. So busy, so much. I have this vision in my head. I was originally going to do something colorful but then as I looked around my newly designed living room, I was reminded of my new taste for simplicity, vintage modern, and clean but bold with personality in lines and form. I don’t think fun color is in my future nursery plans. I am thinking something neutral but rich and posh. Modern lines, small-scale retro patterns, like Thomas Obrien type patterns. Browns, creams, grays. A patterned rug, a metallic lamp of sorts either in metallic silver or a tortoise-shell one I have that has a marble swirl copper appearance from Walter E. Smithe that would be perfect. I wanted to stay away from “gender neutral” like yellow for instance. Yellow is great, just not for me. It’s just not me, what can I say. Soothing colors, with great art on the fall, something the child can grow into. That’s what I’m thinking.

What about you guys? what are some nurseries you are inspired by or you have create that have inspired others. Would love to see and hear about it.

Ok, so before I start htis post, I promised I would be taking before and after pics of my cubicle at work BUT I  have been at home because of severe abdominal pain and ended up in the ER, blah, blah, blah come to find out I had a gallstone episode. So, thus this little project has been delayed. Sorry guys. Just wanted to clarify.

Anyhoo, while resting at home and surfing the net, I discovered this place for oodles of yummy inspiration. Horchow Home. Wow, so many beautiful pieces of Home Decor goodness. Thought I would share a few of my favorites with you all. FYI. sorry some pictures are so small due to flash constraints so you will have to click and follow the link to view the larger size and more detail. 😦

My inspiration headboard. I love the curfy soft lines, the ribbon which creates the contrast in the diagonal lines through the tufting. It’s chic, soft and just scrumptious!

and now for some yummy french inspired pillows…

and for some seating inspiration

Haute House "Elizabeth" Chairwow, this chair though simple in fabric selection will none the less demand anyone’s attention with it’s royal lines and tufting. It sure is statement for seating and with a pop of color in a pillow, you have a instant sitting area with a major splash of personality with a hint of flirty because of the curvy lines!

and one other favorite…this one is smaller and scale and has a fun spring fabric which incorporates my little obsession with birds! 🙂 However, it’s soft and easily transitional with it’s soft curves and simple lines. It’s not too anything which is perfect for a classic modern mix of style.

So this is definitley my new go to catalog for inspiration. So much inspiration to look through. It’s probably a designers gold mine for ideas!

What about you? Where do you go to for design inspiration? …

So, in case you were wondering, I had posted a previous blog a ways back about a photo wall I was wanting to do. Well, it somehow morphed into this spring inspired art wall, which is fine with me. I plant to change it out frequently with seasons and what not so eventually a photo or two might be thrown up there if the mood so inspires ;).

I am rather addicted to birds and have been for some time now and nothing says spring like birds right?

I was kicking myself in the but the other day while outside with the dog because I had the perfect shot of a little birdie perched right on our back tree but didn’t have enough time to run back in and grab my camera. Plus, those little guys are fast and move around a lot. So, guess I will have to go on a nature walk soon and have the camera ready in hopes to catching a little bird action. There’s nothing like spring inspired art than capturing the real thing, right? Better luck next time.

A few of the frames I got for free and repainted, all the art I did except the little egg wreath. A little green and turquoise to brighten the living room up and i just love it. I do have to find that sticky putty to put behind the frames because every time the door shuts or the dog jumps in the window, the tilt slightly. So, apologies for that. I keep fixing but it gets exhausting after a while lol.

What about you guys? any spring inspired areas in your home? Do share!

Well,  off to get a few things done.

See ya soon.

So, today as I was wondering through the lighting aisle at Home Depot trying to price compare and find the best style, in the desired finished, for the best price in lighting for our bathroom remodel (will fill you all in on that in a different  post because I will posting a video.) I was thinking of all you out there. Really I was.

I thought I know some of you have probably wondered the same thing…why on earth do they hang the lights SO high? I mean, do they think giraffes are meant to shop there? goodness.

No joke, every time I hit the lighting aisle, as if it’s not bad enough that you practically need sunglasses to enter the light zone, you have to kink your neck and stand as far back just to see what’s all going on up there. Talk about dizziness issues. Not good. So, maybe that’s why it’s my least favorite aisle. They should really do an experiment about that. I’m thinking that department probably doesn’t see much love?….

So, that’s my little splurge today. Maybe I should write in and recommend the display things a little closer to home…hah!

Well, with two stores down and two more to go, planning for a bathroom remodel is fully underway.  To give you a fun sneak peek. Here is our before and a quick pic I sketched out of my vision for the new bath.

I can’t wait – it’s been a long time coming. Hopefully everything will go smoothy.

What about you guys, would love to hear about your bath remodel experiences and see some inspiration pics from all your hardwork – especially all you DIY’ers out there.

So, hope to hear from you all soon.

Hey all!

So, I thought I would fill you in on my latest project…really it’s more like an update on a previous post, but hey, who cares right?….

So, a while back I started out on what I had intended was to be a photo wall, which, technically, I still have an an idea up my sleeve as I was inspired by something I saw at Pier 1 and just haven’t been able to get around to doing it. I have been busy working on a couple graphic projects for clients, so that always supercedes! 🙂

Anyhoo, it more turned into a collection of misc. art I created over the week while in the process of working on some projects. So, tomorrow I hope to snap a quick pic of the wall thus far so you can all see. I have a collage of antique frames, some painted, some in gold or chrome metal.

I have been adding some custom designed art along with some typography and quote art as well. In case you haven’t noticed, typography is very popular, along with the typography definition art that is often seen either on canvase or in the vinyl wall art. I gotta tell ya there is just something about words that can evoke so much depth and meaning even in their simplicity.

So, I came up with this today and thought I would share it with ya all! I hope to make a sign for the front door out of it soon!

I decided to keep it simple. I played around with backgrounds and colors and patterns and opacity but in the end, I just loved the simplicity of  just the words.

What do you guys think? Have you fell in love with this trendy word art too? Wish you coul have it in your home as well?….

Well if you would love some of it in your home I can offer you your own custom definition art!

Maybe there is a word that has personal meaning to you or a word that you would love to emphasize in your house – I can make it for you and in the color you need.

It will be printed on cardstock in an 8×10 size. Each piece is only $10 plus cost of shipping. If you would like it preframed, that is fine we can talk price and frame style as well.

If you like this first piece I just did, I’m offering a deal where you can buy one, get one half off! So, this piece would only be $5 and your second piece at the full price of $10.  What a dealio!

Email me for all orders and I will give you my paypal email for your transactions.

Thanks.

Jamie

Hey everyone!

I’m back, kinda..I have been in hiding for a while. I honestly have just been all over the place starting this project, trying to finish up that one…etc. I’m a little scatter-brained right now. I have been trying to work on my design portfolio, I much prefer to create but it’s one of those necessary evils. I always seem to get stuck on something. I make a ton of progress and then BAM lol. So anyways, enough about that.

In the meantime, in between coding, I take mental breaks to create and I have been working on a round pleated tablecloth and a photo wall. Both are coming along, not complete just yet but I figured I could at least give you a sneak peek at the upcoming photowall, which is at least up and arranged. I still have to add photos.

I took some old boring wood frames and gave them treatment a dry brushed, shabby hic, antique look using some metallic and green paint I had on hand. I mixed the arrangement up a bit by using some vintage gold metals frames I had and a new one I just added that looks vintage, along with a modern one.

I’m doing something a bit more casual and charming for the frames with no glass so I have to get the stuff for that.

I have been wanting to have a photo wall so we could start putting pictures of loved ones up and we have this small awkward space in between the door and our sofa that is just sort of there all barren so I figured I could use that area for the photo wall. We can’t put furniture there and a mirror won’t work because of the switch plate.

So, I’m going to scan photos and make them into smaller pics so I can hang more on wire with little clips. I’m running a little photo display experiment I guess you could say mixing it up a bit. So, that’s that. Oh yes, and I have been on a mission to add green into the room with accents here and there. It’s more cheery now. Yay!

I would love to see your photo wall arrangements, feel free to share with us! If you don’t have one, maybe you are inspired by one or are inspired to make one. Either way, feel free to jump in and share in the convo.

Take care.

Jamie

So, I have to admit, having to post the last pic is totally embarrassing but I guess I can look at it from this perspective…it gives me another project to tackle! 😉

So, here’s a quick update on what is happening so far. For now, I at least went through all my stuff and organized it as well as purchased a little cabinet to store all of our towels and got that all put together. We did purchase the shelving and we will be adding a third shelf, woohoo. We will also be lowering the hanging rod to accommodate the extra shelf. So, I did manage to clean it all up A LOT over the weekend.

So, here’s what it looks like reorganized minus painting and new shelving. I see light at the end of the tunnel!
